We invite you to join Contemplative Outreach of Connecticut Chapter for a morning of Learning and Community Enrichment.

Father Thomas Keating refers to the Spiritual Journey Series as “a path to freedom.” The Spiritual Journey is a comprehensive series of DVDs that cover the foundational teaching around Centering Prayer and other Contemplative Outreach methods.

The program provides a brief introduction to the Spiritual Journey Series and two of these DVDs will be shown and discussed: The Human Condition: The Evolutionary Model and The Four Consents.

THE HUMAN CONDITION: THE EVOLUTIONARY MODEL -  Father Thomas states the Evolutionary Model is one of several models used to more closely examine the pathology of the human condition. In this presentation, Father draws from the insights of Ken Wilbur and examines the levels of developing consciousness and  (in the words of Father Thomas) “how it leads to the development of the individual self .”  Discussion will focus on the implications this has for our spiritual journey today.

THE FOUR CONSENTS - The four consents is another way of looking at the spiritual journey. Father Keating  bases this section on John S. Dunne’s work. Father states: “…the spiritual  journey…corresponds to the natural evolution or stages of human life from birth to death.”  The four developmental levels of life and the four areas of consent are identified. Father introduces Brother Bernie O’Shea and demonstrates through his example, in light of the developmental levels and the four consents, how we, too, can surrender to a fuller life. Discussion will focus on how an understanding of our human condition can better prepare us for the spiritual journey.

Frank Pendola, CO-CT Leadership Team member is facilitating.
